Advanced Student Concert and the Margaret Chalmers Scholarship Award

This concert is for advanced students from Grade 7 and above to have performance experience.  

Performers will perform one to two whole works. Please follow the links below for the full terms and conditions.

Grades 7, 8 and Certificate will perform from 215pm. Bookings are strictly limited. Click here and book early to avoid disappointment.

Each performer will receive an adjudicator's report and places will be awarded according to the grade and level of accomplishment. Highly commended may also be awarded to students. 

The Margaret Chalmers Scholarship will also be adjudicated at this concert. 


The Margaret Chalmers Memorial Scholarship 

This scholarship has been established by a bequest to the MTA, to enable study in Australia or abroad, by a student of any instrument or voice. Two contrasting pieces must be played. Performers must be aged 25 years or under, be residents of NSW, and be students of teachers who are MTA members. Two scholarships will be awarded in 2023, each to a value of $1000. Any performers who meet these conditions may be considered for this scholarship.

Previous winners of the Margaret Chalmers Scholarship are ineligible to enter.

Rural and Regional Scholarship Entries

Performers from outside the greater Sydney area may submit a video performance that will be shown on a large screen at the live concert. Videos should be uploaded as an unlisted YouTube or sent to the office via WeTransfer or DropBox. For more information, please contact the MTA Office: info@mtansw.org.au. Video performers will be adjudicated as if attending the live performance.
