Charlene Brighenti
Charlene has been teaching piano and theory at many schools in the ACT since 1994, as well as in her own private studio. Currently she teaches mainly at Canberra Girls Grammar School and in her home studio in Queanbeyan. Charlene believes strongly in creating an environment where students feel motivated, encouraged, comfortable contributing and asking questions and are able to progress according to their individual interests and needs. She aims to make lesson time meaningful, foster students’ independent learning skills and stimulate an appreciation for music that lasts well beyond school years. Charlene holds a Bachelor of Music (majoring in piano pedagogy) and on graduating was privileged to receive recognition from the AICM for a distinguished academic record, a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from UC (majoring in public relations), piano performance diplomas including a Licentiate (AGMS), two Associates (AGMS, AMEB), a Certificate of Music Australia with Distinction (AMEB) and a Performance Certificate (Trinity College). In 2019 Charlene graduated with a Master of Education in Expert Teaching Practice from Monash University. She found the further graduate study at Monash to be a very relevant and enriching experience and received much positive feedback and encouragement. Charlene is an Accredited private music teacher, has been a full member of the Music Teachers’ Association of NSW since 1998 and was a member and committee member of the former MTA of NSW Canberra branch.
