Fonda Mulia

Fonda Mulia

Fonda has been teaching piano and music theory for over 25 years. She was born in Medan, the third largest city in Indonesia which is located in North of Sumatra Island, but grew up in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. She began piano studies with Miss Kusmawati Halim, completed all the grades in less than six years and has been teaching since the age of 16 as Miss Halim’s assistance and her teaching career started since then.

Although she studied Bachelor of Accountancy in Indonesia, however her passion in music has brought her to Sydney to further study in piano performance. Under the tutelage of late Dr Nikolai Sokolov and Irina Klamka, she gained Diploma of Music (graduated with Distinction) and Bachelor of Music respectively from the Australian Institute of Music. During her study she also participated in various events of piano competitions and was the winner of Auburn Eisteddfod Open Age in 2003. Many of her exams in both theories and piano studies have achieved high marks as a result of her determination and passion in music in general and piano performance in particular.

Family commitment has seen her piano teaching career restricted to private teaching only, however while teaching in many parts of Sydney throughout the years, she has developed her own high quality teaching techniques that can be attributed from the best of both education worlds: the discipline and rigid classical piano techniques employed by Asian and Russian methods and the tailor-made and critical thinking of the Western education method. Fonda’s dedication in teaching piano can be seen from the results of her students’ piano performances and AMEB examination results, with most students achieved either Honour or High Distinction. One of her students has even been granted 100% music scholarships in one of Internationally known private school in Sydney, Tara Anglican School for Girls, North Parramatta.

She currently teaches piano and music theory from her private piano studio in North Rocks for any ages (from young children to adults) and any commitments (for fun or examinations) and offers accompaniment service for competitions, HSC and instrumental exams.
