Dr John Fangjun Li

Dr John Fangjun Li, as an internationally active music educator, has taught piano, music theory and music industry at a number of Australia and China’s music colleges and universities for 20 years, such as Southern Cross University, Macquarie University, Wuhan Conservatory of Music, China Conservatory of Music and Beijing Institute of Contemporary Music. He was awarded a professional ranking of associate professor in music in 2006.

Dr Li is director of Dr Lee Music Education Centre and co-ordinator at Australian-Chinese Music Industry Network. He was guest lecturer and researcher in music and music industry at Department of Media, Music and Communication and Cultural Studies, Macquarie University. As a musical scholar,  he has published more than 30 articles on music and music industry.

Dr Li earned a number of music degrees and diploma: PhD in music (2015 Macquarie University), Master degree in music (2002 Australian Institute of Music), Master degree in music (1994 Wuhan Conservatory of Music), Bachelor degree in piano and composition (1992 Wuhan Conservatory of Music) and Diploma in piano and vocal (1988 Wuhan Conservatory of Music). His music education mainly related to music and piano performing and pedagogical theory as well as music industry.

Dr Li is an experienced piano and music theory teacher, and has helped many students achieve excellent results (90% achieved B or above) in their piano grade exams (such AMEB, ABRSM) and/or make a rapid progress in their piano performing skills.

Playing and teaching piano has been a lifelong passion for Dr Li, he and his Music Education Center can teach piano and music from young beginners to adults, from performing practice to music theory and musicianship. He passionately believes music will benefit people in all aspect of lives.
