Patricia Johnston

Patricia Johnston studied with Madame Marianne Mathy and in her early years won many Aria and Lieder competitions.

As a member of Opera Ensemble she toured Australia performing chamber operas. Patricia has sung professionally for 25 years with state and regional opera companies, in music theatre and cabaret. Roles include Micaela in Carmen, Gilda in Rigoletto, Magda In La Rondine, Sister Margaretta in Sound of Music.

In 1991 she joined Opera Australia for the world premiere of Richard Meale’s Mer De Glace and in 1992 Patricia understudied the role of Carlotta in the Melbourne production Phantom of the Opera . In recent years Patricia sang for Opera Afloat and continues to perform in The Picadilly Music Hall.

Patricia has been teaching for 15 years and has many students now working professionally . She takes students for exams, HSC, auditions, competitions and confidence building Vocal health is her focus and with this in mind she studied with the American voice scientist Joe Estill to advanced level on all aspects of voice qualities including Opera, Broadway belt and the rock voice.

Recently she has adjudicated a number of eisteddfods and singing competions.
