Nadia Monastyrsky
Nadia Monastyrsky completed her degree in violin at the Ukraine Conservatorium of Music, and was taught by one of David Oistrakh's personal students. After completing her studies, Nadia played with the Odessa Opera and Ballet Orchestra as first violinist. At the same time, she was teaching at Stolyarsky School of Music for gifted children. Nadia toured with the Orchestra and with Chamber groups playing in China, Italy, Belgium and Greece.
Shortly after immigrating to Australia in 1994, Nadia became a member of the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra and worked in a freelance capacity with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
Applying the special methods and skills gained in Russia, Nadia incorporates unique techniques to both her performances and teaching styles. She has been recognized as one of Sydney's finest teachers.
Nadia regularly attends international competitions and master classes, and maintains her connections with those at the forefront of recent developments in string playing. Her students consistently achieve excellent result in AMEB examinations, perform successfully in various Eisteddfods throughout Sydney, and have won music scholarships whilst completing their secondary school education.
Nadia is currently teaching at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and in her own studio.
