EXPERT PREPARATION OF BEGINNER TO ADVANCED PIANO STUDENTS
In this one day workshop, AMEB Examiner, Anthony van den Broek, will comprehensively demonstrate the fundamental aspects of teaching piano repertoire, technical work and exercises from Preliminary to Certificate of Music and preparing students for examination. All aspects of a student’s musical development will be covered including:
* Selecting and interpreting repertoire
* Developing technique, posture and hand shape
* Developing listening and musical skills
* Projecting style and character
* Developing dynamics and tone colours
* Teaching phrasing
* Laying solid foundations to ensure continuing progress and success at higher levels
* Teaching technical work and exercises
Participants can expect to learn a great deal of information on how to expertly teach repertoire from beginner to early advanced repertoire. This will be done through the examination of numerous examples from the AMEB syllabus (both comprehensive and leisure) with a focus on developing objective strategies, musical ideas and teaching points to take back to their studio. Teachers will find out exactly what examiners are looking for and how to prepare their students to achieve their best.
